Depending on the speed and angle of the descent the rocket sometimes refuses to stay in the right angle, and that's when the third chute is used. If the capsule is tilted slightly downwards, everything stays intact in this splash-down. So what needs to be done is activate the side chute in Stage 1 and come down like this: spells disaster, as the splash-down destroys everything but the capsule. When coming down in water, the trick is to come down on the side at a low enough speed. If coming down on ground I only activate the top chute in Stage 2 and land on the legs. Note that it has a chute on the top (Stage 2) and two radial chutes (Stages 1 and 0). The LV-909 on the bottom is not obviously visible but most other parts are. My solution to the problem is building a flexible lander, such as this: Splashing down into water does tend to be a bit tricky if you're bringing down more than your capsule (which has better impact tolerance than most parts). I haven't been there yet in 0.23, but readings from both Inner and Outer Space around the Mun should easily give you around 60 science. Therefore, when I recovered the craft the Goo readings should've been included, but they didn't appear on the post-flight Science report.Īnd yeah, 30 science from a Mun orbit seems a bit low. Went on a regular 10k gravity turn path up into LKO, collected Goo readings in Low Atmosphere, Upper Atmosphere and two in Inner Space, then came back down to Kerbin on a controlled deorbit to splash down just off the coast of Kerbin's desert. Nope, nothing other than collecting the science with the Goo pod. Either you forgot about half or more of the possible science things or you transmitted them and diodn't notice that transmitted science value is 1.) very low and 2.) not shown in the post-mission science summary. but did you guys transmit your data before splashing?Īgain, sry, don't want to anger anyone, but i have seen this before.Īlso: 30 Science for a Mun orbit? You obviously forgot some serious stuff there. Originally posted by Cimex:Sry for a maybe very stupid question. Sandbox or not some people like to feel progression in a game so if you are going to add in a carrier mode either make it playable or remove it.Įither way this game is quickly loosing its cost/content validation for me at this point. Science gain in this newest version is complete buggy trash and it will make people hate this game. This is horsecrap i honestly dont care what you elitists think that assume this is balanced simply because you can do it. So a first time orbiting the moon on that save game got home safe after many orbits and i got a whopping 30 science from ORBITING THE MOON FOR 6 DAYS AND THEN COMMING BACK? and even when you succeed past that a bug or something takes the rest of your possible science gain. I honstly hate how hard the science grind is in this new mode. so when you splash down you loose all science from your science thing? and aparently i lost all science from my good canister too even though that was not damaged. but now i didnt get the science from using the science module. did a crew report and was supposed to get 32. used my goo canister and was supposed to get 35. Used my science module in orbit of the moon.
